 On July 13, 2024, former United States president Donald Trump was shot in the right ear at a rally in Meridian, west of Butler, Pennsylvania.[7][8][9] Law enforcement and witnesses stated that the suspected shooter fired from a roof outside the rally venue using an AR-15–style rifle, before being killed by the Secret Service counter-assault team.[10]
